Hi, I’m Lewis Hewes.
I ‘m mainly a documentary photographer, a budding videographer, and one who’s seeking to inject more experiences and adventure into my life.
More than anything I’m now someone who appreciates the simple fact of being here to see the world.
My path to a visual storytelling website wasn’t a straight line. It was forged through two life-changing events; surviving cancer and recovering from a serious motorbike injury. Going through that didn’t just test my resilience it completely rewired how I see things. When you’ve had to fight just to get back out there, you stop taking details for granted. You start noticing the quiet, honest moments that I would maybe have missed in the past.
I try to avoid the stiff staged setups or forced perfection. My style is completely laid-back and documentary focused. Whether I’m traveling to a new corner of the map or exploring somewhere closer to home I’m there to capture life exactly as it happens. Unscripted, raw, and real.
What You’ll Find Here
Through my camera, I focus on the authentic rhythm of people and places. Right now, I’m also diving into videography, translating that same fly-on-the-wall approach into motion to bring my travel stories to life.
This website is a home for all of it. Alongside my portfolio, I use the blog to share honest, behind-the-scenes stories of my travels, my recovery, and the lessons learned along the road.
